In an effort to expand its services, Anchor Health received a $43,000 grant from the Equality Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Nonprofit organizations across Greater Hartford face increased demand for services, while they struggle to raise sufficient funds. Several local organizations are proactively meeting this challenge through social enterprise: selling a product or service that complements their mission and supports the financial sustainability of the organization.

The Connecticut Urban Opportunity Collaborative (CUOC), a partnership among Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is dedicated to advancing equity and promoting social and economic mobility in communities across the state. To support this work, the three foundations have announced that Liany Elba Arroyo will serve as the collaborative’s new director.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is pleased to announce a competitive grant opportunity through its Equality Fund to support the wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ residents in the Greater Hartford region. The Foundation welcomes requests of up to $50,000 for grant activities implemented over one year and expects to provide up to $200,000 in grants this year.

Since 2019, 24 local nonprofit organizations have participated in the  Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Social Enterprise Accelerator (SEA), a 30-month process to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity by launching or growing revenue generating ventures that are mission-aligned.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving today announces the launch of the Greater Futures Scholarship Fund, a pioneering new initiative that provides qualifying Hartford Public School students with up to $100,000 over four years to pursue higher education — without the crushing burden of student debt.

In collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Education on behalf of the Governor’s Kids Cabinet, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded a one-year, $142,725 grant to the nonprofit RE!NSTITUTE to lead a planning effort designed to support the Greater Hartford region’s education and homeless response system.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation for 29 cities and towns in Greater Hartford, awarded 2,440 grants totaling nearly $55 million to the region’s nonprofit agencies in 2024.

Through Roca’s Rewire CBT program—non-clinical cognitive behavioral therapy for those at the center of urban violence--Roca teaches life-saving skills to young adults ages 14-24 that help them achieve long-term behavior change and disrupt the cycle of trauma, violence, and incarceration.

Dr. Mark Overmyer-Velázquez has been elected to serve as chair of the volunteer Board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving – the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region that is celebrating its 100th year in 2025.

To mark its Centennial year in 2025, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has announced a new $2.9 million investment in the Greater Together Community Funds.
