Saint Francis Hospital Hosts Bring Your Child to Work Day
The hospital welcomed children of colleagues to learn about various health care careers
HARTFORD, Conn. (April 25, 2025) – Saint Francis Hospital welcomed children of hospital colleagues to Bring Your Child to Work Day on Thursday, April 24. The event aimed to provide children between the ages of 8 and 14 with an engaging and educational experience, showcasing the various departments and incredible work done at the hospital
After a greeting and introduction by Valerie Powell-Stafford, MHSE, FACHE, President of Saint Francis, the children took guided tours of hospital departments, including Inpatient Cardiology Unit 10-9, Radiology, the Laboratory, and a Trinity Health Of New England EMS ambulance, meeting with colleagues in each department to learn about the various career roles available in healthcare. They also took part in engaging workshops and demonstrations, including basic medical skills and hospital technology showcases. The children learned CPR basics, what an echocardiogram entails, and heard from the Trauma team about Let’s Not Meet By Accident, an educational program on the dangers of impaired driving.
“We were so excited to welcome this group of young people to Saint Francis,” said Powell-Stafford. “We designed the day not only to educate and inspire but give kids the chance to explore the diverse world of health care and learn about the important role our hospital plays in caring for the community. We look forward to hosting this event annually and providing unforgettable experiences for our colleagues and their children, demonstrating how we live our Mission of being a transforming, healing presence to those we serve.”
