Onward860: United Way and Hartford City Football Club are United To End Poverty

Announcing a ‘revolutionary partnership’ to champion United Way’s plan for the future of Greater Hartford.

June 9, 2025, Hartford, Connecticut – United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut is proud to announce a new partnership with Hartford City Football Club as the club’s Official Impact Partner. 

This new partnership will raise awareness and champion the efforts of United Way’s strategic plan, Onward860: United To End Poverty.“United Way is on a mission to rally people, resources and voices to end poverty in all its forms by reducing disparities in child literacy, wages, life expectancy, and housing. The Onward860 vision is built on insights and feedback from our community; a century of service and experience; a belief in a better future; and, equity at our core.” said Eric Harrison, President and CEO of United Way.

In this revolutionary partnership, Hartford City Football Club games and programs will rally fans in support of Onward860 partners, funders, and initiatives to address systemic inequities and promote real solutions for social progress in Greater Hartford. The club will also provide members of the community opportunities to get involved by volunteering or attending events.

The partnership is being developed with United2026, next summer’s FIFA World Cup, in mind. “The World Cup is the most prestigious soccer competition as well as a cultural celebration of civic pride. Our partnership with the United Way is the foundation of sharing Hartford’s character and values in this global context.” said Andy Parker, Head Coach of Hartford City Football Club.
