February 13, 2025 | Friday is “Go Red for Women’s Day,” and to create awareness - we are sharing the remarkable story of a young mother who underwent life-saving open heart surgery.
A year ago, 38-year-old Katie Molter, a Hartford Hospital nurse, was struggling with extreme fatigue and shortness of breath.
After discovering a serious heart condition, she underwent life-saving open-heart surgery.
Today, Katie is helping patients like herself, and now working alongside the surgeon who saved her life, Dr. Sabet Hashim, Co-Physician in Chief, Hartford HealthCare Heart and Vascular Institute.
Hartford Hospital’s Cardiac Surgery continues to raise the bar for clinical and surgical excellence, earning the coveted 3-Star Rating—the highest distinction awarded by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS)—in all five procedural categories. The five rated categories are: coronary revascularization, aortic valve replacement, aortic valve replacement plus coronary revascularization, mitral valve repair or replacement, mitral valve repair or replacement plus coronary revascularization.
Hartford Hospital's standing is as one of the nation’s top five cardiac surgery programs.
